Standard Conversions
Any default measurement can be converted within the same system in Dailybread - this is just how measurement systems work both inside of Dailybread and outside of it. So for example, because Cups and Tablespoons both measure volume, you can easily measure the cost of an ingredient purchased in cups, but used in a recipe that calls for tablespoons. However, what happens when you want to use Tablespoons in your recipe, but you purchase something in Pounds or Kilograms? That’s where Dailybread’s conversion system comes in to help.Unit Conversions
To convert an Inventory Item from one measurement type to another, you’ll need to create a new Unit Conversion. This will be the basis of calculating the ratio of one measurement type to another. For example, if you purchase Flour in 5lb bags, but your recipe calls for 2 Tablespoons, you’ll need to create a Unit Conversion that will allow you to calculate the cost of 2 Tablespoons of Flour.Adding a new Unit Conversion
To add a new Unit Conversion, find the inventory item you want to convert, and scroll down to the item’s “Measurements” section. Here you’ll see a button labelled “Edit Unit Conversions”.Image or video needed here

Validating your conversions
There’s a LOT to keep track of here. All that math, and remembering which system is volumetric vs. weight is daunting. That’s why we’ve given you a simple conversion validator for each inventory item to check which conversions are possible, and what they’ll convert to. To access this validator, navigate to the Inventory Item you’d like to check and find the “Measurements” section. Here you’ll see a button labelled “Edit Unit Conversions”.Image or video needed here

Fixing broken conversions
When converting from one measurement type to another, it’s possible to convert across multiple systems. However, when changing the inventory item’s base measurement type, you may break the conversion. For example, if you convert from Pounds (weight) to Tablespoons (volume), but then change the base measurement type to Cups (volume), the conversion will be broken since Dailybread will no longer be able to calculate the weight of the item. To fix a broken conversion, navigate to your Inventory Item and find the “Measurements” section. Here you’ll see a button labelled “Fix Unit Conversions”.Image or video needed here
